stage fright & Jawbone Puppet Theater present:

Monster Mask-Making

A creative workshop

Learn to make beautiful (or very ugly if you prefer) monster masks with master mask-maker Adam Ende!

We will be making masks out of 3 ingredients — cardboard, staples and paint. That’s it!

Cardboard is such an amazing material to sculpt with — it’s like soft wood! And what is better than making art out of garbage in the middle of a climate crisis?

Adam will teach you all of his tricks for manipulating cardboard to turn something flat into a living, organic shape.

AND… you will learn about one of the most important tools of a puppeteer/garbage artist — the creature stapler!

He will also teach painting techniques that make it quick and easy to paint a 3D object and make it beautiful. It’s all about shadow and highlights, and the dry brush technique!

Workshop | 90 min | RATED PG

Saturday, Oct 18

9am - 1pm

Sunday, Oct 19

9am - 1pm

* Please plan to attend both sessions

WORKSHOP FACTS

This workshop is for adults and teens (16 and up) ONLY!

If you have a younger kid who is really jazzed on this, we are happy for them to join, but they need to be accompanied by an adult who may have to do a lot of the cutting and stapling which may be too hard for little hands and little attention spans.

ARTIST BIO

JAWBONE PUPPET THEATER / Adam Ende

Vashon Island, WA

Hi! I’m Adam Ende, founder and janitor of Jawbone Puppet Theater.

I like to spread unexpected wonder in people’s lives through the magic of iconoclastic puppet shows and wierdo installations made of baby dolls, goat bones & rusty saws in public places.

I also like to fight evil with the power of friendship, like a magical girl.
